ABOUT COCONUT OIL RBD

In a word... bubbles!

Coconut oil is used to add hardness and bubbles to a batch of soap.

Hard at room temperature, this coconut oil will melt at 76º.

COCONUT OIL - 76º - RBD Cocus nicifera Not recommended to be used over 30% without compensating with emollient oils and higher superfat percentages. I have experimented with higher percentages as I like the luscious lather, colour and clean feel of a coconut soap. Some oils that I like to use with it are Nut Oils and a Shea Butter. This oil is a favourite to use for soaps to be used in hard water locations and salt water. SAP .178

PALM OIL - refined Elaeis guineensis An oil often used as a portion of the hard oils in a soap recipe. Solid at room temperature.

PALM KERNAL OIL - refined Said to give a better lather when used with coconut oil. Can be used in place of coconut oil as well. An oil often used as a portion of the hard oils in a soap recipe. Solid at room temperature.

CASTOR OIL I love to add a bit of this oil to most of my sliced soap recipes. It REALLY makes your lather rock! And it adds some nice conditioning qualities when soap making as well. It can make your soap a bit soft and sticky if you use too much, so I don't use it at all in my fancy molded soaps. I've found about .5oz per lb of oils to work well. SAP .129
