ESSENTIAL OILS

Eucalyptus - eucalyptus globulus - wildgrown - steam distilled - Australia Scent: Sharp, camphorous with an herbal edge. It cleans out the sinus! Blends to try: juniper, pine, thyme, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, peppermint and lemon. Uses: Eucalyptus is an extremely versatile essential oil. It is used on the skin for burns, blisters, wounds and insect bites as it is cooling and anti-itch. It is also used as an insect repellent, including lice. One of the first oils that I reach for if I need something to relieve a stuffy nose in the diffuser, it also freshens the air in a sickroom. Another well known use for it is to relieve sore muscles and joints. Safety: Externally at low dosage - non toxic, non irritant, non sensitizing. Internally this is a very toxic oil. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN (as with all oils). Death of a child was reported after ingestion of 5ml (as recorded by both Martin Watt and Sylla Sheppard-Hanger)

Eucalyptus - Lemon - Eucalyptus citriodora - - Australia Scent: Lemon Eucalyptus is one of my favourite lemons. It has a crisp scent that is instantly soothing to me, I think this would make a wonderful oil for the sickroom diffuser as well as to cheer up the home at any time. Blends to try: juniper, pine, thyme, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, peppermint and lemon. Uses: sedative, soothing,insect repellant, deodorant, analgesic, antirheumatic, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, antiseptic, dandruff, aches and pains. Safety: Externally non toxic, non irritant - may be sensitizing

Douglas Fir I love the fresh earthy scent that the conifer oils bring to a blend, but I love these oils straight too. Douglas Fir is light with a sweet note, it's utterly beatiful and doesn't smell a bit like Pine Cleaner!

Geranium - Rose - France This is one of my recent favourites. It has a green note to it that lends depth and soothes, but it also has a strong but soft floral note (if you know what I mean!) that is hard to find in a mid priced essential oil So far I've only soaped it in a blend with lavender, it came out very nicely, I think it will add a strong but soft prettiness to any blend it is used in. The scent stays very well in soap.

Geranium - Chinese Blends well with lavender, lavandin, rose geranium and rose. I've always enjoyed using this oil when I want to *pump up* the floral note of a blend. It has a slightly sharp note that gives a slight edge in a blend that you may want to sharpen up a bit. Also adds staying power.

Grapefruit - white - Isreal Scent: Grapefruit gives an uplifting and multi-faceted component to any blend I put it in, it seems to linger in the air to give it that extra little *ummphh* that gives life to the *scentsational* experience. In one word - FRESH! In two words - CLEAN :0) NOTE: I have no proof, but I read somewhere that in a poll, women wearing a grapefruit scent where said to be younger by passers by asked to guess their age. Blends to try: I like grapefruit with any citrus, it is delicious with lavender. Also said to blend well with rosemary, sage, tangerine, vanilla and cypress. I'd like to try it with some other conifers such as douglas fir and juniperberry. See headache blend idea below. Uses: Used in acne blends, athlete's foot, for oily skin, to tighten the skin and aid in hair growth.. It is said to aid in stiff muscles, detoxification, to increase circulation, and as an environmetal disinfectant. Also for use in headaches (It is amazing blended with lavender/lime/eucalyptus with a touch of mint. I used it in a salt scrub and it did help relieve a very bad headache) and said to relieve PMS, nervous exhaustion and jet lag (I'm assuming due to it's uplifting *feel good* characteristics, it always surprises me) Safety: Treat this oil as having the potential for sensitization (as with all oils really) and label it with a warning for people wth sensitive skin and use it on the lower end of the scale as % of end product. This is easily done as it really doesn't take much to work it's magic. Phototoxic.

Pink Grapefruit - pink citrusparadisi -expressed - Israel - pesticide free Scent: The scent description for this catagory is very easy, it smells just like a fruity pink grapefruit! Sweeter than the white, great for lip balms. Blends to try: bergamot, geranium, lavender, lemon, lime, neroli, mandarin, orange, rosemary.
