Tea Tree - Organic melaleuca alternifolia Tea Tree Essential Oil is a popular and well known oil used often as insect repellent and fungal infections such as athletes foot. It is among the gentler oils, but it will burn if used undiluted or used to strongly or often, especially sensitive skin. Used in the right concentration, it will give a pleasantly fresh tingle and is especially useful in shampoos to deter lice infestations. Often said to have an herbal, medicinal type scent. I find it earthy but fresh and like to use it to add that dimension to oils such as lavender and patchouli. Deep but slightly sweet, very grounding. It has an undertone that I can never place but always have to do a double sniff when it is around and wonder "what is that". And then I remember and say to myself, AHA! Blends well with similar oils such as patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense, cedarwood and balsam peru. Try it with chamomile, ginger, jasmine, juniper, lavender, lemongrass, rose, vanilla and ylang ylang. Traditional Uses: Sooth stress and insomnia, as a muscle relaxant/arthiritis and as a very effective fixative.
