TALKING
OUT LOUD
St.
Patrick's Day was my 42nd birthday. In prior years I if someone
asked me, "Do I feel a year older", I never really did.
This
year I do.
I
think it's because no matter how positive we are, there becomes a
point that you can't deny the fact that your life is progressing and
you are entering a new phase of it.
In
fact I was reading a book about knowing when your 40, and I had done
a few of the things that day! (for instance getting ready to go out
and being sure that I "used" to have eyelashes).
In
some ways it is quite cool to be stepping into the "next
phase", the one where some of the school teachers look kids to
me :0))
I
can't imagine "now" making some of the decisions that I
have made, I'm no longer the "sweet young girl" that I used
to be, although sometimes I miss her. And I must admit,
"gnarly" has it's merits!
If
I had to tell you the one thing that I have learned in my life so
far, it would be - always face in the direction that you want to go,
focus and keep going.
Don't
assume that there will always be more time to do it.
For
those of you who are younger, if you want to do something, but you
don't know how, find out. There is always a way. Sometimes you just
need to believe that there is one and you will find it.
If
you are 40+, what can I say, you probably know more than I do about
it :0) I've swung from thinking my life has "passed me by"
to "it's kind of fun to be grown up" :0)

YOUR OWN RECIPE BOOK Recipe
#1 March 2006
I
made this salve on request from my husband for a friend who needed
something to keep an old burn from chapping under his gloves at work.
Since
I was making it for a man, I scented it differently than I may have
usually, but I am very pleased with the result. With the exception of
the creaminess the shea adds, it reminds me of an old fashioned salve
- not fancy, not too pretty, I love the scent but the tea tree gives
it a definite medicinal quality.
It
can be used for skin softening and soothing.
He's
been using it about a week now, and has reported that nothing he has
tried before has worked as well, he's very happy with it.
Note:
The quantity given is a 5% dilution of essential oils, which is
quite strong. Always do a test patch before using. You can reduce the
percentage of essential oils used to your preference as well, or make
it unscented.
