ABOUT
OLIVE OIL SQUALANE
This
ingredient is one of my favourite additives. I put it in ALL of my
face products. It's a natural with Rice Bran Oil, Emu or Virgin
Coconut Oil (see recipe below) and a must have for any anti wrinkle serum.
Great for hair too.
ABOUT
SODIUM LACTATE
Made
from fermentation of sugar (usually taken from beets), Sodium
Lactate is a naturally occuring in our skin. It has humectant
properties. I am always happy to hear this as glycerin was the old
stand by for a long time, I find that it can be nice but has a
tendency to make the end product sticky if used in a high percentage.
It is nice to have a few to choose from so we can boost the humectant
properties of a skin care product.
ABOUT
PANTHENOL - PRO VITAM B5 COMPLEX
Panthenol
has humectant-like activity that promotes moisture absorption and
most amazingly, metabolizes to vitamin B5 in the skin. Known for its
revitalizing, protective and conditioning effects in the hair and skin.
I
like to call this group of skin care additives "Too Good To
Miss".
They
all combine together beautifully, I like to put each one in all of
my facial items. At a certain age you don't want to miss anything!

Olive
Oil Squalane
Isolated
without chemicals from Olive Oil, squalane has been called Natures
Facelift, so I had to try it. Said to be good for wrinkles, UV
damage, chapped skin - an all around amazing additive.
Odourless
and colourless, Squalane helps to carry other nutritives into deeper
tissues.
Stable
and non greasy, it feels like silk to me.
I
put some in my spray bottle along with some hydrosols that I keep
for my facial toner/refresher on my desk.
NOTE - I have very limited stock. Due to cost increases I will only
have this available in smaller quantities or by special order. Contact me at customer_care(at)skincarenaturals.com to be put on the list if you are interested.

TUB TIP:
I like to give
my face a "salon treatment" by grinding some oatmeal in my
coffee grinder, mixing some milk in it to a fairly thin consistancy,
it will thicken over time. Add a wee dash of Sodium Lactate, a wee
dab of Panthenol and a bit of Squalane. To that add a few drops of
Rosalina Essential
oil.
Take it to the
bath tub and apply to face. Wet it again as it dries with a spritz of
some soothing floral
water if you want to keep your skin from drying
out or if it starts to feel too tight. When you are ready to get out,
wet it so that it is a soft exfoliant. Rub gently and rinse well.
Your face will
be smooth and firm, ready for an application of Soothing
Facial Serum and top it off with the Best Ever
Skin Balm if you like! |

BEST
EVER SKIN BALM
This
is one of those recipes that practically put themselves together. I
can't believe how skin softening it is and how silky it feels. I use
this on my face after every shower. It sinks in quickly when used
sparingly. Sometimes I slather it on anyway! Great under make-up
foundation if your skin is dry. Or gives a healthy glow without foundation.
I
just melted the cocoa butter, let cool very slightly, not enough for
it to start thickening up. Then I added the rice bran oil and emu
oil, then the squalene. A little at a time stirring as I added.
Then
I stirred in the Natrasorb. If you find that you want to add more,
you can gently reheat until it is soft enough to stir some more in.
Note:
This makes a very small batch. The double boiler method can be used
if you have something small enough to use as a container. A small
metal bowl in a small pot will do fine.
Never
leave melting oils unattended and as always, boot the kids out of
your work area at least until the melting is finished and mixing started.
I
don't know about you, but the minute I step in to make something,
everyone stampedes the kitchen until I get tired of ducking them and
shoo them out, they must think I'm making food or something, geesh :0)
